Enjoy an excursion through the Sonoran Desert in a Classic Hummer H1. The Hummer will pick up our guests at the resort and take them 4 x 4 wheeling in the desert. The very knowledgeable guides will teach our guests all about the wildlife and plant life which makes Arizona's desert so unique. Depending on the type of tour booked, the duration of the tour is between 4-7 hours.

Sit back and relax on a tour of the living desert and learn about the cacti in the Wild West. Jeep tours include transportation from the resort, nature walks and 4 x 4 wheeling in the magnificent Tonto National Forest located just north of Scottsdale. The duration of the tour is 3 hours.

Enjoy the miraculous sunrises and sunsets that the desert provides from a Hot Air Balloon. The 360-degree views are completely unobstructed and perfect for taking photographs of the desert. The sunrise tours are complimented by a champagne breakfast. The sunset tours are complimented by champagne and hors d'oeuvres. The duration of the tour is 4 hours.

Come to the Wild West and commute the way the cowboys used to. We can offer horseback riding for every guest. From 1300 acre ranches to trail rides we can accommodate your experience level. English or Western riding is available as well. The duration of each tour varies.

Arizona's beautiful Sonoran Desert is the home to some of the most unique and adventurous mountain biking experiences. We are able to arrange bike rentals at a discount and recommend nearby trails. The bike rentals can be dropped off and picked up right here at the resort for our guest's convenience. We can also arrange for guided Mountain Biking tours through the McDowell Mountain Range with experienced and very knowledgeable guides. The duration of each tour varies.

Numerous breathtaking and expansive views of the valley can be seen from any of the astonishing Mountain tops in Scottsdale and surrounding areas. The Concierge can recommend the best trail to meet your skill level and excitement expectation for the desert trails. There are also guided tours available. The duration of each tour varies. The most popular hike is Camelback mountain, and is only 5 miles away.

The Scottsdale Resort & Athletic Club is a proud partner of Enterprise Rental Car. Our Concierge is happy to arrange for a rental car to pick up at the airport with a discounted rate. Our Concierge is also able to rent Enterprise vehicles right at the Concierge Desk. With notice, the vehicle is dropped off right to the resort for the convenience of our guests. The Enterprise vehicle can also be returned to the Concierge Desk, Phoenix International Airport or The Scottsdale Airpark for a minimal fee. Please call or e-mail the Concierge for a quote. Desert Botanical Garden : Nestled amid the red buttes of Papago Park, the Desert Botanical Garden hosts one of the world's finest collections of desert plants. One of only 44 botanical gardens accredited by the American Association of Museums, this one-of-a-kind museum showcases 50 acres of beautiful outdoor exhibits. Home to 139 rare, threatened and endangered plant species from around the world, the Garden offers interesting and inspiring experiences.

Just one mile from the Scottsdale Resort & Athletic Club is the celebrated McCormick-Stillman's Railroad Park. Scottsdale is known across the country for its parks, and none is more popular than McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park. Encompassing 30 centrally located acres at the southeast corner of Scottsdale and Indian Bend roads, it's a one of a kind experience. With train rides throughout the park, historic exhibits, superb picnic and playground facilities, McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park is an entertainment and educational delight for people of all ages.

Miniature golf, go karts, bumper boats and more await your arrival at this fabulous fun park. A great place to bond as a family for an afternoon, it features three different miniature golf courses that accommodate putt-putt novices and experts alike. Sports aficionados can participate in a friendly game of volleyball, test their abilities in the batting cage, or improve their swing by taking golf lessons from a PGA pro.

SEA LIFE Arizona transports visitors into the amazing ocean world, providing close encounters with a vast array of creatures including seahorses, sharks, rays, tropical fish and more! To get any closer you would have to get wet!!

Wet 'n' Wild Phoenix is located in the Adobe Dam Regional Park on Pinnacle Peck Road, near I-17. Set on more than 35 acres in North Phoenix Wet ‘n’ Wild water park is the largest theme park in Arizona and features Maximum Velocity – the world’s first, gravity-defying, dueling Master Blaster water coaster in addition to more than 30 other exhilarating slide and attractions.

Big Surf’s wavepool, Waikiki Beach, is the original North American wavepool and is ranked as the third largest according to size/volume. It holds 2.5 million gallons of water and produces a wave every 3 minutes.

Visitors to Tempe Town Lake can experience a small storm, even when the weather is sunny and warm. Splash Playground at Tempe Beach Park lets children cool off and have fun at Tempe Town Lake. The one-acre playground teaches how a drop of rain falls from the sky and ends up either in the ocean or becomes part of the city water supply.

The entrance to the playground is a metal circle of clouds that rains a light mist of water onto visitors. Thunder claps and lightning flashes. Waterfalls turn into streams and water rushes into canals. Children can enjoy running through the ocean and riding toy whales.

Old Town Scottsdale, just a 5 minute drive from The Scottsdale Resort & Athletic Club, is home to more than 125 galleries, unique museums as well as performing arts venues. Please make sure to ask the Concierge about the current performing arts schedule during your stay as well as any seasonal events.

Every Thursday in Old Town Scottsdale is the Art Walk. It is a wonderful way to spend the evening strolling and enjoying the weather or searching for the perfect souvenir. The galleries that are normally only open during the day re-open from 7pm - 9pm along the well known street Marshall Way for the Scottsdale Art Walk.

This is a unique performance put on by the Yavapai Nation. Native Trails is a lunchtime experience that includes traditional music, tribal dance, Native American food and art. This is a wonderful way to experience Native American culture first hand in the center of Scottsdale.

The Heard Museum showcases the culture and arts of Native Americans within the Southwest. The museum is world renowned for its collection of kachina dolls which are religious artifacts that represent the gods of the Hopis.

Taliesin West is the winter headquarters of Frank Lloyd Wright's architectural foundation and was once his personal residence. The site still serves as an operational Architectural school. Situated on 600 acres of Sonoran desert, Taliesin West is a National Historic Landmark. Tours are offered on a daily basis.

Set in the beautifully landscaped Scottsdale Mall with a number of wonderful restaurants surrounding it the Museum of Contemporary Art is home to devoted art, architecture and design of our time. Adjacent to the Museum is the Center of Performing Arts Center where numerous theatres, symphony, comedy and other exciting performances are held. Since 1971, the Scottsdale Arts Festival has established a solid reputation as one of the premiere arts festivals in the country. Held every March during the height of Scottsdale's tourist season, the Festival draws more than 30,000 visitors in a single 3-day weekend. Scottsdale's oldest arts festival, it remains a popular favorite among visitors and artists. If you are looking for that special piece perhaps you will find it in Scottsdale next March...it will be worth the trip.
